Real Affordable Health Care?

I was invited to a meeting to understand a new health care co-op – O’Na Health Care. It is a Native American Health Care Plan. You do not need to be a Native American to participate.

For legal reasons:

O’Na Health Care cannot be referred to as a medical insurance plan.
O’Na Care must be applied for.

The type of client that they want to help are people interested in natural health methods and in taking responsibility for personal health.

In this system, reimbursement will be allowed for alternative healing methods.

The deductible is $5,000 for a single person, $10,000 for a family.
Your monthly premium may be as low as half of what you are currently paying.
Dependent children up to age 26 can be covered on the parent’s policy.
This plan is an opt-out for Obama-care, and can take the place of medical insurance.

I’m considering signing up as a provider of these plans and I like to know what you think.

Please email me with your opinion at O’Na Health Care – response

You can find out more about at www.onahealthcare.com.

Aspartame Being Re-Branded as AminoSweet

Aspartame’s presence in the world’s food supply has been the subject of great protest and controversy since the mid-1980′s when then CEO if Searle, Donald Rumsfeld, pushed for it’s approval to be sold on the market.  Aspartame has been consistently proven to harm whoever, or whatever, consumes it.

Aspartame is an artificial, non-saccharide sweetener used as a sugar substitute in many foods and beverages. In the European Union, it is codified as E951, and is most popularly sold under the NutraSweet and Equal brand names.

The possible association between specific artificial sweeteners and cancer?

Studies in laboratory rats during the early 1970s linked saccharin with the development of bladder cancer. For this reason, Congress mandated that further studies of saccharin be performed and required that all food containing saccharin bear the following warning label: “Use of this product may be hazardous to your health. This product contains saccharin, which has been determined to cause cancer in laboratory animals.”

Gardasil Revisited – Is It Good Enough for the Boys?

Gardasil is a vaccine for HPV (human papilloma virus) which is supposed to prevent cervical cancer. Gary Null PhD and Nancy Ashley have written an article in the Feb/Mar 2014 Townsend Letter entitled “Gardasil: Child Abuse by Big Pharma”.

The highlights of this article: Pap smears have decreased the incidence of cervical cancer by 80% to a few thousand cases a year, and the vast majority of HPV cases ressolved on their own. There is no need for universal vaccination of young women for a disease which has been almost controlled with current preventative methods.

Gardasil only “prevents” 4 HPV strains, however there are 150 other types of HPV, at least 15 of which could cause cancer.

Gardasil was rushed to market without adequate safety testing, and without solid evidence that it has any impact on cervical cancer at all. It takes 20 to 40 years to prove that anything impacts cancer statistics, and the Gardasil studies were concluded after 5 years.

Please read the article to further understand the disreputable research done by the manufacturer, including eliminating girls in the study whose results did not support the vaccine. An additional adverse effect was that some girls end up getting HPV from the vaccine.

There is concern that Guardasil will give women a false sense of security, and they will not get regular Pap smears, which could lead to an increase in cervical cancer.

Gardasil is the most toxic vaccine given to children. There have been 1300 reported adverse events from Gardasil and 108 deaths.

It is believed this is a fraction of the actual reactions. Typically 10-20% of vaccination reactions are reported.

The vaccine is not safe! The main reactions to the vaccine are auto-immune and neurologic. The adverse effects range […]

Radiation Protection

What We Can Do:
There are ways to mitigate the effects of this dangerous radiation. One is to take supplements that prevent the radioactive elements from settling in our bodies. Here’s a link to an article that explains why protecting ourselves BEFORE radiation exposure is so important:

I recommend that you acquire some supplements in advance ‘just in case’, because it is important to saturate our bodies with minerals before we encounter any radioactivity. We carry the following supplements in our office. Call 208 658-5570 to order.

To prevent Iodide 131 from settling in the body, use Iodoral, a non-radioactive iodide supplement. An adult can take one tablet a day. SSKI, a liquid source of iodine, is perfect for infants and children. SSKI needs to be ordered from a compounding pharmacy.

Cesium 137 is similar to potassium, so taking Iodoral, which contains some potassium, can help prevent absorption. Mega-Min has potassium as well. You can also buy Morton’s Salt Substitute, which contains potassium chloride, and use this as you would use salt in cooking and seasoning.

Use calcium supplements, or non-radioactive Strontium, to prevent absorption of Strontium 90. Mega-Min has calcium in protective amounts.

Mega-Min also contains Selenium, which is protective against cancer in general.
Be Prepared:
In the event of a nuclear meltdown, I recommend the following supplements/dosages:

Adult Daily Dose:

2 Mega-Mins
1 Strontium
1 Iodoral
Vitamin C 1000mg 3 times a day
Vitamin D 5000iu per day

Note: Cancer patients can take 6 Mineral 650 (a supplement that does not contain copper or iron), 1 Strontium, and 1 Iodoral per day.

Keep the Morton’s salt substitute handy and sprinkle it on food.

Call the office at 208 658-5570 to order the above supplements, or if you need a recommendation to a compounding pharmacy.

Grains and Sugar = ‘Brain Drain’

Do you experience ‘brain fog’? Do you ever feel sluggish or irritable for no apparent reason? Like many health issues, the cause of the problem might be what you’re eating.

Dr. David Perlmutter’s new book, Grain Brain, draws a strong correlation that links insulin resistance, inflammation and hyperglycemia to our excessive consumption of grains. The book cites multiple studies of the effects caused by eating too much grain.  One Mayo clinic study showed that people who eat the largest amounts of grain-derived carbohydrates are 4 times more likely to suffer mild cognitive impairment as people eating the smallest amounts.

Since the 1950’s, our grains have been selectively bred and genetically modified, so that the grains we are consuming are not the grains in the bread that our grandparents ate.  Today’s wheat crops contains up to 40 times more gluten than the wheat produced 50 years ago.  Our ancient ancestors did not have access to high carbohydrate food, and when they did, it was seasonal and rare.  We have the same physiology as our ancestors, yet we consume large amounts of carbohydrates, not only with the amounts of sugars and gluten we eat, but the concentration of these substances in each mouthful. It is hard for our bodies to adapt to this onslaught of sugars and gluten, and has lead to the increase of such diseases as diabetes and obesity.

There is evidence that grains can cause dementia. These grains include wheat, rye, barley, spelt, kamut and bulgar.  These grains can be very allergenic, which can lead to brain inflammation and potential destruction of brain cells.

High blood sugars also decrease brain function. Sweetened drinks, sodas, and juices are all culprits. If you want a sweet taste without compromising your health, […]

Are you getting enough sleep?

Every person can appreciate a good night’s sleep but how many of us regularly get one? By sleeping too little or too much, you could be putting yourself at risk for serious health issues.

A review of several sleep studies published in the journal Sleep concluded that persons sleeping too little or too much live shorter lives than those who slept an average of 7-9 hours a night. An inadequate amount of sleep has been linked to health issues involving multiple body systems, such as kidneys, heart, lungs, metabolism, immune system and brain function.

One study involving 24,000 Japanese women found that those sleeping less than six hours a night were at a higher risk for developing breast cancer. Another study by the University of Cleveland found that men sleeping less than six hours a night were at a higher risk for developing potentially cancerous colorectal polyps.

Too much sleep has also been found to be detrimental to a person’s health. Studies have found that person’s sleeping more than 9 hours a night have a higher risk for developing health issues like obesity, type II diabetes, back pain, depression and heart disease.

How much should we sleep?? The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends adults sleep between 7 and 9 hours a night, teenagers sleep 8.5-9.5 hours a night and children ages 5-10 sleep 10-11 hours per night.

If you’re sleeping too much or not enough, here are some ways to put yourself back in the optimal range:

Regular exercise has been shown to improve sleep
Avoid eating before bed because this may trigger acid reflux
Avoid caffeine, smoking and alcohol before bed as they can disrupt sleep patterns
Taking a hot shower, bath or sauna before bed
If you’re tossing and […]

Heavy Metal Toxicity In Your Well Water

Do you get your drinking water from a well? Is the well water safe? Most people will tell me their well has been tested by the county authorities. This test determines if there are coliforms (or microorganisms associated with fecal contamination). It does NOT test for heavy metals, which can also affect your health. Do you know if you have heavy metals in your well water?

Idaho’s water contains high arsenic and fluoride levels, which could be hard on your health. Use Wikipedia to research arsenic poisoning and fluoride poisoning.

You may order a test to check for heavy metal toxicity in your ground water at Doctor’s Data Lab. The test is called “Comprehensive Drinking Water Test” and costs $129. A pre-paid sample collection kit will be sent to your home for collection and you can send the sample back in the mail. We do not carry the kit at our office, but you can directly order through Doctor’s Data. This test can provide you with detailed information on what your water really contains. Click here to view sample report.

If your groundwater contains a high level of toxic metals, consider testing yourself to make certain you have not absorbed abnormal amounts. These tests we do carry in our office. Contact us at 208.658.5570 for more information.

Cancer-causing shoes

Watch out! Some shoes have been shown to cause cancer!

Testing on some less expensive plastic shoes has shown to contain carcinogens, heavy metals and other toxic solvents.

“Many of us wear or have worn the cheap clog-like plastic sandals. Throw them away! They are heavily polluted with carcinogenic chemicals. The ones that smell worst are the dirtiest.

That’s been found out by laboratory tests of 10 pairs of the plastic clogs in all price categories. The tests were commissioned by Germany’s biggest broadcaster, Cologne-based WDR, for its consumer service program.

The lab looked for solvents, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals.”  Read more here.

Toss out those cheap plastic shoes…or you may pay the price difference later down the road.

Intelligence in Children Linked to DHA Levels

DHA (docosahexanoic acid) is an omega 3 essential fatty acid which may be critical for maximal intellectual functioning in children.

Low levels of DHA were found in children from 7-9 years old with behavioral problems, poor memory and poor reading.

Infants who were supplemented with omega 3 fatty acids outperformed unsupplemented infants when they were retested between 3 and 5 years on rule learning, vocabulary and intelligence testing.

DHA provides the building block for neurological functioning in the fetus. A woman needs to supplement during pregnancy to provide optimal nutrition for her unborn child. We cannot produce omega 3 fatty acids, and they must be obtained from the diet. Optimal sources include wild fish, liver and brain. The best fish is wild caught Alaska salmon.

Finally, to enhance thinking in the later years and as a prevention to Alzheimer’s disease, supplementation with 900 mg of DHA can enhance cognitive function.

Sometimes, the easiest way to enhance your omega 3 fatty acids is to take a supplement.

We have essential fatty acids in our pharmacy from Genestra which are caught off the coast of Peru, and contain no mercury contamination. They may be taken liquid (orange flavoring), in gel capsules or in chewable Pediaburst for children which provide a convenient way to assure optimal mental functioning at any age.
